The Manager, Enterprise Data Governance is responsible for establishing and maturing the enterprise-wide data governance program, ensuring data quality, security, and accessibility. This role leads governance processes and enables Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Fabric capabilities to support trusted and compliant data across the organization. This role is also responsible for establishing and leading the organization’s data stewardship model, ensuring appropriate ownership, accountability, and cross‑functional engagement in managing enterprise data assets. The manager will coach and coordinate a network of business data stewards to maintain data definitions, oversee data quality, and support responsible data use across Compass Minerals.
Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to the following:

- Lead the development and execution of the enterprise data governance framework, policies, standards, and operating procedures.
- Oversee the master data management (MDM) function, including direct leadership of data governance and master data team members through coaching, prioritization, and performance management.
- Establish and lead the enterprise data stewardship program by defining steward and data owner roles, responsibilities, workflows, and RACI; provide guidance and training to ensure consistent execution across business domains. Administer and expand Microsoft Purview capabilities—including cataloging, lineage, classification/sensitivity labeling, access policy management, and metadata curation—with full integration to OneLake to ensure unified metadata, governance, and data discovery across the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem Oversee governance aspects of Microsoft Fabric including workspace governance, security models/role design, metadata standards, and data lifecycle management across ingestion, curation, and consumption.
- Define and monitor enterprise data quality metrics (completeness, accuracy, timeliness, consistency); partner with data stewards and engineering teams to investigate root causes and drive remediation.
- Drive adoption of governance and data literacy through communications, enablement, and change management; develop steward playbooks, glossaries, and training materials to build a culture of responsible data use.
- Facilitate data governance councils and cross‑functional working groups; provide transparent reporting on program maturity, catalog adoption, lineage coverage, policy compliance, and data quality health.
- Ensure compliance with privacy, retention, and regulatory requirements by implementing effective controls, documentation, and audit readiness in partnership with Security, Risk, and Legal; align governance with enterprise analytics and technology strategies.

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Data Management, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7 years of experience in data governance, data management, or analytics roles.
- 2 years hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview (catalog, lineage, classification/sensitivity, access governance/policies).
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric or modern Azure-based data platforms.
- Experience developing or managing a data stewardship program, including defining stewardship roles, processes, and cross‑functional engagement models.
- Strong understanding of data privacy, compliance, metadata management, and data quality practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and data stewardship initiatives.
