Job Summary: The Developmental Specialist – Adult & Youth will serve an integral role in providing and coordinating programming and delivery of services for adults and youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in a human service field from a nationally accredited university or college and State approved competency coursework.
- 1 year experience developing and delivering youth programming.
- 1 year supervised experience (1040 hours) working with children 3-21 years of age who demonstrate functional or behavioral needs.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) and social media.
- A self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Must be grounded, organized, and open to the changing demands of a small organization.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to develop and maintain rapport with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, self-directed in meeting job responsibilities.
- Ability to train/teach others; knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability; personality; and interests; learning and motivation.
- Problem solving, ability to analyze data and draw conclusions.
- CPR/FA certification is required to maintain employment in this position.
- Current driver's license, current insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Successfully pass criminal history screening with fingerprinting.
- Pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Facilitates the development and implementation of schedules – ensures participants receive the services developed within their program plans at the time and duration scheduled.
- Comply with all agency policies, procedures, and regulations, including health and safety guidelines.
- Develops, maintains, monitors and reviews paperwork, participants plan of service, conducts quality assurance reviews, and improvement planning to assure compliance and progress.
- Administer or interpret appropriate assessment instruments to determine participants skill level.
- Assist with curriculum development to allow for diversity and meet interests of participants.
- Consult with parents, staff, case managers and other community resources regarding participants' progress, specific disabilities, and behavior management techniques.
- Staff scheduling, supervision, training, and management including performance reports, incident reports, and weekly meetings.
- Completes monthly staff observations and annual performance reviews.
- Enforce administrative policies and procedures governing participant rights, independence, and responsibilities.
- Maintains and expands effective, collaborative relationships with schools, organizations, and community, serving as a liaison for our programs, staff, management, and community.
- Promotes services to potential participants and stakeholders.
- Conducts tours and participates in public relations events as needed.
- Participation in at least 12 hours of job-specific training annually.
- Other duties as assigned.
Base Pay: $18.00 per hour depending on experience.
