About Energy Select: Energy Select is a Maryland-based renewable energy company focused on delivering sustainable, cost-saving solutions to homes and businesses. For over a decade, we have been a certified contractor for SMECO to provide commercial clients with energy-efficient lighting upgrades. This leadership role offers the chance to be part of meaningful projects that reduce energy consumption and provide extensive experience with various commercial and residential electrical projects such as working with local schools and government.
Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced lighting technician to assist with installation projects and guide a small crew in the field. This position involves hands-on installation of lighting fixtures, controls, and wiring while ensuring quality workmanship and safety on every job. The Lead Installer will coordinate with our Lighting Manager, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain professional customer communication throughout each project.
- Install & Wire Systems –Retrofit existing lighting to LED fixtures including installing switches, wiring, and controls in compliance with code and safety standards.
- Crew Lead – Direct a team of installers to complete commercial and residential lighting projects efficiently and to company specifications.
- Ensure Quality – Perform checks to confirm all components function properly and coordinate final job site clean-up so the space is left free of debris and Energy Select’s tools and materials.
- Troubleshooting – Diagnose and fix electrical issues that come up during installation to keep projects on track and clients satisfied. This can include incorrect or inconsistent wiring connections, flickering lights or non-functioning fixtures, compatibility problems with dimmers or smart controls, and loose connections or breaker issues.
- Promote Safety – Uphold OSHA and company safety guidelines to protect yourself and your team.
- Customer Service – Interact with clients in a professional manner, answering questions and providing updates as needed.
- Comfortable working at heights and operating lifts
- High school diploma or GED
- Journeyman’s License a plus, but not required
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Reliable transportation is required to reach job sites across Southern Maryland within the SMECO service area.
