Contract Vendor Surveillance Inspector – Condensers & Ejectors (Periodic / Ad Hoc)

Advance NDT LLC is seeking an experienced Vendor Surveillance Inspector to perform periodic, ad hoc inspections during the manufacturing of industrial condensers and ejectors. This position involves scheduled surveillance visits at defined manufacturing milestones and does not require full-time or resident presence at the vendor’s facility.
The inspector will act as an owner’s representative, ensuring vendor compliance with approved drawings, purchase order requirements, applicable codes, and project specifications.
- Perform periodic vendor surveillance inspections during fabrication and assembly of condensers and ejectors
- Verify materials, MTRs, and material traceability
- Review approved drawings, data sheets, and purchase order requirements
- Perform visual weld inspections and basic dimensional checks
- Verify fabrication, assembly, and testing activities meet applicable standards
- Witness designated hold and witness points as scheduled
- Review vendor quality documentation and Manufacturing Data Records (MDR)
- Identify, document, and communicate nonconformances
- Prepare and submit clear, professional surveillance reports after each visit- 5+ years experience in vendor surveillance or manufacturing inspection
- Experience with pressure vessels, heat exchangers, condensers, ejectors, or similar mechanical equipment
- Familiarity with ASME (Section VIII, Section IX), API, and client specifications
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, data sheets, and ITPs
- Experience working in OEM or vendor fabrication shop environments
- Strong reporting, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to travel to vendor facilities as required
- Reliable availability for scheduled surveillance visits throughout the manufacturing cycle
- AWS CWI
- API 510 (preferred)
- VT or other NDT certifications
- Experience with heat exchangers, surface condensers, or steam ejectors
- Hourly pay for:
- Travel time
- All on-site surveillance hours
- Report writing and documentation time
- Mileage reimbursed to and from the site at the current U.S. IRS mileage rate
- Ad hoc, milestone-based assignments (not full-time or resident work)
