Production Technician
Pay: $30.03/hr
Responsibilities
•Installation, testing, and maintenance of protective and control relay schemes, PLC’s, supervisory controls, electronic and all associated electrical and mechanical equipment at assigned dams and hydro generating stations.
•Must be capable of operating and be switch qualified at all hydro facilities in the assigned area.
•Have a thorough knowledge of and plan, oversee and participate in the installation, testing and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment for hydro generating facilities.
•Perform and oversee the installation and repair of electronic and solid state equipment and test devices used in hydro station control, instrumentation and communication. Keep accurate records of all tests and readings.
•Perform and oversee testing to determine correct phase rotation for hydro generators and provide oversite to ensure proper connections to produce correct phasing.
•Perform preliminary analysis of test results and inspections and maintenance reports, maintain equipment installation records, and associated test and maintenance data.
•Provide technical assistance to the Senior Production Leader, and maintenance personnel, and work closely with Hydro Support Staff in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hydro generating equipment.
•Read, interpret, and work from all prints, sketches and diagrams of mechanical and electrical equipment used on dams and in hydro generating stations.
•Have up-to-date knowledge of the theory of operation, maintenance and testing techniques for newly installed types of hydro generating equipment.
•Have a thorough knowledge of all applicable local, state and federal regulations pertaining to assigned work and perform the work accordingly.
•Have a thorough knowledge of the Company’s operating standards, policies and directives pertaining to assignments and assure that work is carried out in conformance with them.
•Have a thorough knowledge of the safety instructions affecting the work and perform the work accordingly.
•Proficient in performing the duties of the Hydro Electrical & Mechanical Crafted Worker.
•Oversee the work and assist in the training of employees in lower classifications.
•Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications
•Associates degree in electrical engineering tech field or related field is preferred.
•Knowledge of hydro generating units and AC power circuits is preferred.
•Knowledge of PLC and instrumentation systems is preferred.
•Working experience related to power grid operations
•Experience with operation, repair and maintenance of hydro turbine/generator systems and related equipment is preferred as follows: electrical, mechanical, hydraulic as well as minor troubleshooting.
•Must be able to respond to off-hour callouts and work a reasonable amount of overtime.
•Hydro operating and maintenance experience.
•Must be able to perform basic computer skills and have good communication skills, oral & written.
•Ability to work in confined spaces, on elevated structures and over water.
•Knowledge of applicable OSHA safety standards.
•This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid driver’s license. A motor vehicle report (MVR) that shows driving history, including information about your driver’s license, will be required if you are selected as the successful candidate
Budget: $29.09-35.52/hr. per the CBA
