To perform maintenance activities associated with the Cooperative’s communications systems in a manner which provides for greater efficiency, better service and contributes to the optimum of plant and system reliability, availability and efficiency.
To provide, test, install and maintain a communications system that meets all the voice, data, control, telemetry and power line protection needs of the Cooperative and its members.
To perform and coordinate maintenance, installation, and operation activities associated with the cooperative’s metering systems.
Performs installation, testing, repair and maintenance on all communications systems to include microwave radios, SCADA, PLC, telemetry, PBX, telephone, dispatch circuits, fiber optics, Ethernet, Gai-tronics, cell phones and 2-way radio systems.
Performs installation, testing, repair, and maintenance on support systems to include emergency generators, battery chargers, battery banks, alarm reporting equipment, tower emergency lighting, HVAC systems, and microwave towers.
Performs electrical tests and repairs of in-service meters to prevent and remedy abnormal behavior or failure of associated equipment. Installs and maintains communication equipment for Deseret’s
revenue metering and
Load Monitoring System.
Documents and files BES testing to ensure compliance with NERC Reliability Standards. Assures that applicable records, documents, drawings and data sheets are accurate, complete and up-to-date.

Education - Associates Degree in electronic technology or computer science or related field. Or four years of experience in a communications related field. Must have a strong background in mathematics, computers, computer networks, word processing, spreadsheets, electronics, RF propagation.
Experience - Must have two years of experience as a communications technician, in microwave radio, 2-way radio, ethernet, SCADA, or closely related field.
Skills and Abilities - Willingness to work as a team player, as well as on your own. Demonstrates adaptability, shows integrity, and demonstrates resourcefulness. Possess excellent communication skills, leadership qualities and company vision. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Must effectively interact with diverse groups of people with varying abilities.
Must have valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Must be a competent driver who can drive a work truck on rough, mountain roads.
Must be willing to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions. Must have ability to lift over 75 pounds.
