Job Summary
Leads and supervises the day-to-day operations and employees of the City Desk in promoting sales and technical assistance. Obtains orders, provides customers timely follow-up on technical inquiries, participates in the marketing, planning and sale of Border States’ products and services, provides input to sales and marketing on customer needs regarding pricing, products, competition and procedures, resolves customer billing problems, and performs appropriate SAP functions to ensure City Desk areas run efficiently and accurately.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
•Supervises City Desk staff to ensure sales goals are met and manages the performance of each employee.
•Develops standard operating procedures, guidelines, or checklists for City Desk area to ensure consistent, accurate and repeatable processes.
•Leads change management in City Desk area which may include training of City Desk staff, formal communications, or other corporate initiatives.
•Performs the appropriate SAP functions to assure City Desk runs as efficiently and accurately as possible.
•Provides customer service functions including, but not limited to, order entry, filling orders, processing returns, expediting, technical assistance, Will Call, and other functions, as needed.
•Analyzes and acts upon information and feedback of customer needs, pricing, products, competition, and procedures.
•Coordinates and advises management on the implementation of marketing plans and strategies and leads the implementation at the branch level.
•Provides input to sales and marketing personnel on customer needs and concerns regarding pricing, products, competition, and procedures.
•Maintains reports including bill blocks, delivered not invoiced material, open work cycles, credit cards without authorizations, etc.
•Informs proper departments of “stock outs”, inventory discrepancies and other inventory problems or concerns.
Non-essential Functions
•Participates in the marketing planning and strategizing for BSE product lines, as needed.
•Attends sales meetings and training programs as required and keeps current on new products and applications.
•Assists with sales meetings and trade shows, as needed.
•Participates in the implementation and success of marketing plans, as required.
•Responsible for performing the duties of the City Desk Representative, as needed.
•Ensures all batched managed material is labeled accurately and inventoried, as needed.
•Assists with receiving, shipping and other warehouse associate functions, as required.
•Trains new hires, as required.
•Identifies and leads continuous improvement opportunities working with branch, regional or corporate stakeholders.
•Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate.
Qualifications
•Minimum of a two-year business/trade degree preferred or the equivalent in work experience.
•Prior supervisory experience with minimum of three years of prior warehouse, city desk and/or sales experience preferred.
•Technical ability to understand electrical systems with a minimum of two-years of prior electrical distribution experience preferred.
•Strong knowledge of electrical products or systems preferred.
•Prefer strong working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), Internet, Email and SAP software.
