We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Beer and Alcohol Category Manager to oversee the development, implementation, and management of our beer, wine, and spirits categories. This role will be instrumental in driving innovation, ensuring compliance, and maintaining operational excellence in alcoholic beverage offerings. The Beer and Alcohol Category Manager will also play a key role in forecasting, analyzing sales data, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), and building strong vendor partnerships to drive growth and profitability.
- Category Development:
Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to create and expand beer, wine, and spirits assortments that meet customer needs and align with the On The Fly brand.
- Assortment Management:
Continuously assess product selections, ensuring they reflect current market trends, customer preferences, and compliance standards.
- Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all alcoholic beverage operations meet state and federal laws, including licensing, labeling, and responsible retailing practices.
- Operational Efficiency:
Manage inventory levels, ensuring products are available without overstocking. Develop and implement systems for efficient ordering, merchandising, and sales execution.
- Training:
Provide training and support to store teams on responsible alcohol sales, product knowledge, and merchandising standards.
- Vendor Relationships:
Manage and negotiate with suppliers and distributors for pricing, delivery schedules, promotional funding, and product availability. Build strategic partnerships to drive category performance.
- Customer Experience:
Analyze customer feedback and sales data to continuously improve offerings and ensure On The Fly’s beer and alcohol categories meet customer demand.
- Marketing and Promotions:
Partner with the marketing team to design and execute promotional campaigns, seasonal specials, and loyalty initiatives that boost sales and engagement.
- Sales Forecasting & Data Analysis:
Utilize historical sales data and industry trends to forecast demand for alcoholic beverages. Regularly review sales performance, identify opportunities, and adjust strategies to maximize sales and minimize shrink.
- KPI Monitoring:
Track and analyze KPIs such as sales volume, profitability, product margins, and customer satisfaction. Provide regular reports to senior management with actionable insights.
- Cost Control:
Monitor and manage cost structures within the category, ensuring profitability while reducing waste and optimizing vendor-funded opportunities.- 5+ years of experience in category management, retail alcohol sales, or beverage industry management (convenience, grocery, or liquor environment preferred).
- Strong understanding of alcohol regulations, licensing, inventory management, and cost control practices.
- Proven ability to develop and execute successful category strategies.
- Strong analytical skills with experience forecasting demand, analyzing sales data, and tracking KPIs.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
