Position Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and hands-on CNC Machine Shop Manager to lead our 1st shift operations in a fast-paced, mid-sized manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing daily shop floor activities, coordinating production schedules, and driving team performance to meet safety, quality, and delivery goals.

This is a leadership position requiring strong technical machining knowledge, excellent people management skills, and the ability to improve processes within a company of approximately 100 employees.

Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise and support a team of CNC machinists, operators, and setup personnel on the 1st shift.

- Plan and oversee daily production schedules to meet customer orders and internal deadlines.

- Monitor machine utilization and workflow, proactively resolving bottlenecks or delays.

- Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed consistently; foster a culture of safety and accountability.

- Uphold and enforce quality standards, including first-piece inspections and in-process checks.

- Work closely with engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize performance.

- Maintain 5S and organization standards on the shop floor.

- Train and mentor team members; conduct performance evaluations and recommend personnel actions as needed.

- Track shift metrics such as throughput, downtime, scrap, and labor efficiency.

- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, including Lean initiatives, process enhancements, and cost-saving measures.

- Coordinate with other shift managers and departments to ensure smooth shift handovers and production flow.

Qualifications:

- 5+ years of CNC machining experience, including milling and turning, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

- Strong understanding of G-code, setups, tooling, and machine capabilities.

- Experience with ISO 9001 standards and quality systems preferred.

- Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and job travelers.

- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling tools.

- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in machining, manufacturing, or related field preferred.

Work Hours:

- 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM (These hours are not flexible.)

- Occasional overtime may be required based on production demands.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
