The business systems analyst is responsible for functional application maintenance, analyzing and resolving application/system issues and recommending and implementing corrective and enhancement modifications to accommodate customer and business requirements.
- Assists in effecting positive changes for business users by identifying opportunities for improvement that deliver value to the organization.
- Analyzes business and user needs by getting to the root of the problem with research and fact-finding, documents business requirements, and recommends system logic modifications as necessary under the direction of experienced Business System Analysts.
- Based on the business requirements, develops and executes test plans to ensure software functionality.
- Assists in effecting positive changes for business users by identifying opportunities for improvement that deliver value to the organization.
- Analyzes business and user needs by getting to the root of the problem with research and fact-finding, documents business requirements, and recommends system logic modifications, as necessary.
- Based on the business requirements, develops and executes test plans to ensure software functionality.
- Develops and maintains credibility and effective working relations with both user and IT personnel.
- Demonstrates an understanding of business problems, IT strategies, issues, and priorities.
- Participates in less complex technical studies to evaluate business requirements and recommends solutions.
- Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex systems problems.
- Aligns technology solutions with business strategies.
- Partners with functional groups within the IT organization, to communicate and clarify business needs, contribute to development of long-range system plans, and ensure products and services are aligned with business needs.
- Conducts business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost versus benefit measurements.
- Develops and executes test plans to ensure software functionality
- Test plans cover multiple functions and ensure complex functionality is delivered as designed
- Communicates trends and requirements to and from customers and IT.
Bachelor's degree in business or computer science; or equivalent related work experience. (Typically four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Business System Analyst 1 - 1-2 years work experience in systems analysis, programming, project management or systems implementation or support.
Business System Analyst 2 - 3 or more years work experience in systems analysis, programming, project management or systems implementation or support.
Business System Analyst 3 - 5 or more years work experience in systems analysis, programming, project management or systems implementation or support.
Knowledge of the gas industry and familiarity with nominations/contracting/capacity systems would be a plus.
Experience with or significant knowledge of CAS systems.
Must have strong functional knowledge of Business Objects.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows operating environment, relational database environments and specialized analysis, design and testing tools.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
