The Human Resources Generalist supports day-to-day Human Resources operations for Nabors Alaska Drilling and serves as a primary HR contact for field and corporate employees. This role assists with employee lifecycle administration including recruiting coordination, onboarding, payroll support, benefits administration, compliance, and employee relations.
The HR Generalist works closely with field leadership, operations management, recruiting, payroll, benefits, and corporate HR teams to ensure timely and accurate HR service delivery across the Alaska Division. This position reports to the Human Resources Manager and plays a key role in supporting remote field operations, employee travel logistics, regulatory compliance, and workforce administration.
Periodic travel to Field operations including North Slope may be required to support field employees, conduct HR visits, and coordinate workforce initiatives. Travel is anticipated approximately quarterly or as business needs require.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred - 2+ years of Human Resources experience preferred
- Experience supporting operational or field-based workforces preferred
- Working knowledge of employment laws including FLSA, FMLA, and EEOC practices
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all organizational levels
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Self-starter capable of working independently in a fast-paced operational environment
- Professional HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent)
- Experience supporting oil & gas, energy, or field-based operations
- Experience working with HRIS systems and payroll platforms

- Must successfully pass all required pre-employment screenings, including drug and alcohol testing and background check required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that is Real ID compliant and eligible for travel within Alaska, including periodic travel to North Slope field operations.
- Serve as a primary HR point of contact for employees and supervisors regarding HR policies, payroll, benefits, and employment procedures
- Respond to employee inquiries and provide guidance on company policies, benefits enrollment, payroll concerns, and employment documentation
- Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive personnel matters and employee records
- Maintain employee personnel files and ensure documentation meets corporate and regulatory compliance standards
- Support recruitment efforts for field and support positions and other operational roles
- Coordinate hiring processes including employment offers, background checks, onboarding scheduling, and pre-employment testing
- Liaise with Recruiting to facilitate candidate selection and hiring logistics
- Coordinate onboarding processes for new hires including required documentation, compliance training, and testing requirements
- Provide HR support for North Slope field operations and coordinate workforce logistics between rigs, HR, and operations leadership
- Assist with employee rotations, scheduling updates, and travel coordination related to crew changes
- Coordinate employee medical clearances, mask fit testing, drug screenings, and physical exams required for field assignments
- Act as a focal point for employee payroll inquiries and assist with troubleshooting pay discrepancies
- Prepare and submit payroll adjustments including retroactive pay, pay corrections, and special timesheets
- Review payroll exception reports and coordinate corrections with payroll teams as needed
- Assist with tracking compensation adjustments related to promotions, transfers, and role changes
- Serve as a point of contact for employee benefits questions and enrollment assistance
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment, qualifying life events, and benefits troubleshooting through corporate benefits channels
- Coordinate documentation required for benefits updates including dependent verification and supporting documentation
- Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and company employment policies including FLSA, FMLA, and wage and hour regulations
- Ensure HR processes comply with company policies and applicable labor laws
- Assist with HR audits and maintain documentation required for compliance reviews
- Coordinate employee status changes including promotions, transfers, and separations
- Assist with offboarding processes including exit documentation and administrative requirements
- Maintain HR trackers and reports related to workforce activity, onboarding progress, and HR operational processes
- Assist HR leadership with workforce planning initiatives and operational HR projects
- Recommend improvements to HR processes, documentation practices, and operational workflows
