Air Permitting Specialist – Midstream Oil & Gas

Location: The Woodlands, TX Work Arrangement: On-site, full time Employment: MHT Consulting, LLC (assigned to a large midstream operator)

Position Summary

MHT Consulting, LLC is seeking an Air Permitting Specialist whose primary expertise is midstream oil & gas air permitting. This role is on-site full time at a large midstream operator’s office in The Woodlands, TX, supporting day-to-day air permitting and compliance activities while remaining an employee of MHT Consulting.

The ideal candidate’s bread and butter is midstream air permitting, with strong hands-on experience permitting facilities in Texas (TCEQ). Experience supporting New Mexico (NMED) permitting is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and support air permitting activities for midstream oil & gas facilities, including compression, processing, storage, and related assets

- Prepare and manage air permit applications

- Able to communicate with regulatory agencies, primarily TCEQ, and NMED as applicable

- Interpret and apply federal and state air regulations applicable to midstream operations

- Coordinate with engineering, operations, and environmental teams to support permitting needs

- Track permit status, permit conditions, and compliance obligations

- Support audits, agency inquiries, and internal environmental reviews

Required Qualifications

- 2+ years of oil & gas air permitting experience, with a strong focus on midstream operations

- Direct, hands-on experience with Texas (TCEQ) air permitting (required)

- Ability and willingness to work on-site full time in The Woodlands, TX

- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)

Preferred Qualifications

- New Mexico (NMED) air permitting experience

- Experience supporting multiple facilities or projects simultaneously

- Familiarity with emissions calculations and air compliance reporting

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
