This position supports GTC's billing and accounts receivable functions, including intercompany transactions, monthly and year-end closing entries, and financial reporting. The role ensures that associated costs and revenues are accurately recorded in accordance with RUS and FERC Uniform System of Accounts (USoA), and comply with GTC financial and budgetary requirements. The level of responsibility and complexity will vary by classification (I-IV) based on experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Billing & Accounts Receivable
•Support third-party billing and receivables for GTC reimbursable capital projects, intercompany, and O&M costs.
•Manage billing activities for members, contractors, material sales, and others.
•Analyze billable costs and ensure timely, accurate invoicing and aging of receivables.
•Coordinate collections and follow up on outstanding or delinquent invoices.
•Work with various departments to support capital and O&M billing.
•Review weekly ACH/check deposit reports and ensure accurate account distribution.
•Provide guidance on the proper recording of AR and cash receipts.
•Confirm input of reimbursable balances at year-end for RUS reporting.
General Ledger & Reporting
•Support monthly and year-end closings, including journal entry creation and review.
•Analyze monthly financial reports and ensure accuracy in account reconciliations.
•Provide audit support and research financial inquiries as needed.
•Serve as backup contact for Accounting in GTC's Disaster Response Plan.
•Coordinate audits with FEMA, GEMA, and DOT.
•Prepare documentation and manage cost recovery submissions for disaster relief funding.
•Assist with Single Audit requirements and related compliance needs.
Education
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Accountant I: Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor's preferred).
Accountant II-IV: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field and/or CPA.
Experience
Accountant I: 0-2 years
Accountant II: 2-3 years
Accountant III: 4-7 years
Accountant
IV: 8+ years
Equivalent Experience Path•Non-accounting degree holders must have:
•At least 30 quarter or 20 semester hours of college-level accounting coursework, and
•Progressive accounting experience based on level (e.g., 2 years for Accountant I, 10 years for Accountant IV).
