Job Title: AEL H igh School Equivalency (HSE) Lead Instructor
Salary: S614 ($51,584 - commensurate with experience)
To provide coaching and mentorship to developing teachers, create and review adult education curriculum, analyze classroom performance data, serve as liaison for digital platforms used in the program, monitor classrooms for DESE compliance, provide professional development opportunities, and serve on the program testing team. The AEL HSE Lead Instructor will be employed for the term specified in the AEL Grant and the assigned site calendar.
This is a grant-funded position for the 2025–2026 school year, and continued employment is contingent upon the duration of the grant.
Performance Responsibilities:? In addition to their assigned teaching responsibilities, the Lead Instructor will:
- Obtain certification to administer all AEL assessments (TABE 13/14, CASAS)
- Mentor all new instructors with “initial” certification for their first two years
- Serve on the program's assessment team to assist in the enrollment of new students
- Assist instructors in creating daily lesson plans based on student deficit areas and assessment data
- Model and teach new instructors the art of making accommodations and providing differentiated instruction in their classrooms
- Analyze classroom and program data to identify instruction needing intervention and guidance
- Monitor classroom documentation, including student hours, testing information, student assignments, and learners’ education guide to ensure DESE compliance
- Develop and maintain a close working relationship with representatives from programs' digital platform providers
- Maintain Digital Access for HSE Teachers and Learners
- W ork variable hours and days as negotiated , in addition to teaching classes
- Monitor and create adult education curriculum based on the program's needs
- Identify the best sources of research-based materials written for adults and ensure that classrooms have adequate materials ( i.e., Textbooks, computers , etc. )
- Design and present professional development opportunities as appropriate for the program
- Attend all scheduled staff and team meetings as a leadership team member
- Promote and represent the program professionally and positively
To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Minimum Qualifications)
- No less than a four (4) year degree
- Must obtain AEL Teacher Certification through DESE
- Must attend 20 hours of Professional Development annually to maintain certification
- Must participate in a 2-year mentoring program
