A burr bench operator is responsible for deburring and cleaning machined parts as per a customer’s specified blueprint. In addition, parts may be washed or tumbled when required.
· Remove burrs, sharp edges, and imperfections from various work pieces using hand tools, power tools, and other specialized equipment
· Smooth and polish ground areas to achieve a smooth, unmarred surface
· Inspect and evaluate components to ensure they meet quality standards, including tolerances and customer specifications
· Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of deburring tools and equipment
· Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
· Maintain accurate records of work completed, including parts processed and any issues encountered
· Work effectively with other team members as well as communicate with other departments when applicable
· Flex to other departments (such as shipping or assembly) when needed
· Prior experience in a machine shop environment, particularly with deburring and surface finishing techniques
· Ability to use various hand tools (files, grinders, etc.) and potentially power tools or automated equipment
· Ability to identify and address defects and issues with workpieces
· Ability to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to specifications
· Ability to sit for extended periods of time and perform repetitive tasks
