The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of machinery, equipment, vehicles, and facilities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This includes performing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs; maintaining the company's fleet of diesel and gasoline vehicles, flatbed trailers, and related equipment; and supporting facility upkeep such as lighting, wiring, plumbing, landscaping, and snow removal.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on plant machinery, equipment, and fleet vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair flatbed trailers, pickup trucks, and cars.
- Perform scheduled maintenance on vehicles and facility systems to minimize downtime.
- Fabricate and install safety guards and components in compliance with OSHA requirements.
- Modify, upgrade, and install building features including lighting, wiring, and plumbing.
- Maintain required maintenance records for all equipment per OSHA and company standards.
- Maintain inventory of perishable parts and ensure tools are available for immediate repairs.
- Operate and maintain shop and garage tools, welding equipment, and cutting torches safely.
- Communicate repair status and priorities to the Facilities Manager; assist with evaluating major repairs and equipment rentals when necessary.
- Support facility grounds maintenance including mowing, landscaping, and snow removal.
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean, organized, and safe.
- Participate in ongoing training to improve technical knowledge and skills.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain good attendance and reliability, which are essential functions of this position.
Working knowledge of electricity, hydraulics, pneumatics, basic electronics, carpentry, and masonry.
Capable of using various hand tools and measuring instruments.
Ability to meet physical demands of position which are required 95% of the work day (i.e. lifting up to 50 lbs independently, pushing, pulling, standing, climbing).
