The Rural Affairs Manager is responsible for fostering meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities and ensuring respectful, compliant engagement across all company operations. This role supports consultation processes, community development initiatives, and internal guidance on cultural and regulatory matters, contributing to sustainable and inclusive business practices.
- Community Engagement
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with Indigenous communities and leadership.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for Indigenous affairs.
- Consultation & Compliance
- Facilitate consultation processes in alignment with Indigenous engagement protocols and legal requirements.
- Ensure company activities reflect cultural respect and regulatory compliance.
- Community Development Collaboration
- Partner with Indigenous communities on initiatives related to economic development, employment, and cultural preservation.
- Support programs that promote long-term community well-being.
- Internal Advisory
- Advise internal teams on Indigenous affairs, cultural sensitivities, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Provide training and resources to enhance cultural awareness and respectful engagement.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Indigenous relations, community engagement, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, governance structures, and engagement protocols.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Experience in regulatory compliance and stakeholder consultation.
- Ability to travel and work closely with remote communities as needed.
