Summary: Under the supervision of the Melt Supervisor, the Melter handles producing metal for quality castings that are within customer specifications. A Melter handles the metal while it is in the furnace until the time it is poured.
Education/Equivalent: Education equivalent to a high school diploma is preferred.
Work Experience Needed: One to three years of verifiable work history. Foundry experience is preferred.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee must regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or touch, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift to 40 lbs., and is often needed to lift to 75 lbs. The employee will also regularly lift more than 75 lbs. with the aid of an overhead crane. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Because of the nature and activity of this job, the employee must always be looking at and listening in his work area.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works in wet, humid conditions (non-weather), extreme heat conditions (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, has the risk of electrical shock, and works with explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
