Performs a variety of material handling duties including, but not limited to moving, prepping, counting, and packaging material; and loading/unloading trucks safely and efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
- Locates and identifies the material to be loaded on the truck using appropriate reports. Checks for discrepancies such as: wrong count, wrong part, incorrect tagging, improper packaging and quality issues.
- Safely loads and secures material on the truck in accordance with DOT and company standards.
- Receives incoming material and verifies it is correct by counting and using reports such as a bill of lading or pack slip.
- Safely unloads material and delivers it to a storage or work area or contacts the department’s material handler to pick up the product.
- Verifies material and count with the packing slip, tags material according to ISO procedure and stores material upon completion.
- Reports any concerns to lead such as quality concerns, short counts, incorrect part or packaging issues.
- Ensures warehouse, packaging, and shipping/receiving areas are accessible and safe for employee and customer traffic by maintaining a clean work area at all times.
- Acts as a liaison for customer service issues. Solves those within the scope of responsibility and refers advanced concerns to the appropriate individual for follow-up.
- Establishes efficient work flow based on product and task.
- Follows safe warehousing practices when storing material.
- Safely operates a forklift, four directional lift, scissors lift and/or overhead crane.
- Efficiently uses packaging and other supplies and notifies the correct person when supplies run low.
- Works with freight on trailer assignments and inspections.
- Properly wears required Personal Protective Equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Knowledge of warehouse and packaging standards normally acquired through six (6) months of experience in similar position.
- Previous experience operating a forklift, four directional lift, scissors lift and/or overhead crane.
- Previous experience loading and unloading semi trailers and familiarity with safe stacking procedures.
- Ability to read, count and accurately measure is required.
- Previous experience with small hand tools is beneficial.
- Ability to work in a team or independently.

The position requires the ability to team-lift, load and carry items weighing up to 150 pounds.
