Responsible for the supervision of all department employees and ensures compliance with all safety, quality, quantity, and housekeeping standards. Uses independent judgment and exercises discretion in executing duties. Coaches, mentors, trains, and motivates the team to achieve performance excellence.
- Responsible to supervise all personnel and manufacturing operations in the department. Maintains thorough knowledge of all manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Responsible for providing a safe environment for all production employees and visitors. This could include, but is not limited to, ensuring employees receive regular safety training in accordance with the safety training program, ensuring employees and visitors receive and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and ensuring proper medical attention is provided immediately with any accident and perform accident and near miss investigations.
- Responsible for producing the best quality product at all times by ensuring all employees are trained to what customer’s expectations are, identify product for rejection, rework, etc. and all customers receive product that meets or exceeds standards/expectations.
- Ensures all quality measurements are properly recorded in appropriate computer system at scheduled intervals and make sure all non-conforming products are place on “hold” with proper hold documentation completed.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean production floor and equipment by performing daily audits of production floor and equipment cleanliness and making sure necessary corrections to maintain a “customer visit ready” condition.
- Proactively addresses housekeeping issues on the production floor and production equipment. Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and others to solve production related problems within scope of responsibility. Report any major issues to Department Manager immediately.
- Responsible for achieving maximum production efficiency in the department by monitoring production efficiencies and making necessary adjustments to meet and exceed goals.
- Makes sure daily production and downtime summaries are recorded in appropriate database.
- Provides necessary training to all department personnel as it relates to safety, quality, production and equipment operation. May delegate some training functions to other experienced employees or department leads.
- Enforces company policy/procedures with shift personnel, and monitor employee’s activities as it relates to policies/procedures.
- Reviews employees time records daily and approve authorized overtime also addressing any issues, approve/deny and schedule accordingly all vacation requests, personal time, etc.
- Performs employee corrective and/or disciplinary action and maintain sufficient documentation to support such action.
- Monitors employee breaks and schedules.
- Assists in resolving conflicts with individuals in the department. Follow up on matters until resolution is achieved and communicated.
- Responds to employee questions including policy interpretation, concerns, or other questions. Refers any complex questions or answers to the Extrusion Manager.
- Consult with Extrusion Scheduling and Extrusion Manager about schedule priorities for the shift.
- Communicate timely with Extrusion Manager any necessary information.
- Consults with and updates appropriate resources like Human Resources, Safety, etc. with any questions, concerns, or comments when appropriate.
- Can locate, read, comprehend and execute proper work instructions.
- Is supportive of employee and company objectives while maintaining an objective viewpoint at all times.
- Adjust leadership techniques to individual employees to ensure the most effective working relationships and work environment.
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with all employees in the department.
- Shows consistency in treatment of all employees at all times.
- Shows appreciation to co-workers by recognizing their work and provides recommendation for rewards to the Extrusion Manager.
- Works with other Supervisors and Leads in an effective, team-oriented manner.
- Represents Crystal Finishing Systems in a positive manner at all times.
- Ensures communication link between employees and supervisor/manager.
- Provides recommendations to Extrusion Manager in the areas of policy development, process changes, quality improvements, cost reductions, etc. to ensure the most effective working environment possible. Actively participates in continuous ongoing process improvement.
- Provides feedback on employee performance and participates in the review process involving employees in the assigned work unit.
- Participates in company tours for customers as requested.
- Motivates employees in a positive manner within work unit to accomplish tasks to meet department goals.
- Maintains confidentiality of proprietary business and employee information.
- Properly wears required Personal Protective Equipment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes normally acquired through at least three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a similar working environment and/or Associates or Bachelor’s degree in management field required.
- Ability to lead a team environment a must.
- Knowledge of finishing and the paint process for painting aluminum is preferred.
- Must have experience reading blueprints and parts drawings.
- Previous experience with small hand tools is beneficial.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong understanding of production and quality processes required.
- Ability to work independently, be self-directed, and work in a team environment.
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills. High levels of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and/or conflicting situations.
- Must be able to work under the stress of deadlines.
- Must be able to react to change productively and work in a fast-paced environment
