The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for planning, preparing, and executing commissioning, trial runs, operation, and acceptance testing for assigned projects. This role ensures technical safety, compliance with EHS policies, and successful project delivery within budget and schedule.
- Plan, prepare, and execute commissioning activities, including trial runs, acceptance testing, and operation of systems within project scope.
- Ensure technical safety of the plant from system turnover (erection phase) until handover to the customer (COD).
- Implement and enforce company EHS policies, Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), Work Permit programs, and compliance with local regulations.
- Identify and act on safety deviations, stopping work if high-risk conditions are observed.
- Participate in accident/incident investigations and promote a culture of continuous EHS improvement.
- Supervise and ensure day-to-day safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient site operations.
- Prepare and manage commissioning execution plans, turnover process management, spare parts procurement, daily/weekly reports, and final documentation.
- Coordinate roles, responsibilities, and activities among partners, contractors, and the client to ensure seamless project execution.
- Manage, monitor, and perform commissioning activities within contract requirements, time schedule, and budget.
- Support project milestones by providing timely updates to the Site Manager (SIM), project management, and regional leadership.
- Organize and oversee plant operations during commissioning, including shift planning, logs, safety regulations, and site rules.
- Accept system turnover from erection and execute handover to the client in accordance with procedures and contractual requirements.
- Continuously seek process improvements, efficiency gains, and cost reductions.
- Technical Expertise
: Commissioning of high-voltage switchgear, power transformers, protection systems, SCADA, and related electrical systems.
- Safety Management
: Demonstrated experience in high-voltage EHS practices, with strong risk management skills.
- Leadership
: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct diverse teams.
- Adaptability
: Willingness to travel frequently (local and international) and work in various site conditions.
- High School Diploma or GED (additional technical training or certification in electrical/commissioning fields preferred).
