General Purpose
BCA maintains a list of active, qualified event staff. In this position, you will help with the set up and on-site execution of indoor and outdoor events in the BCA Center, BCA Studios, Contois Auditorium, City Hall Park and other indoor and outdoor spaces as needed.
Event work is posted to an email list and any staffer can opt to take the work as desired and available. A minimum amount of work must be accepted to maintain the position.
An Event Staffer will at times work independently and other times on a larger team. Staffers should be knowledgeable or willing to learn about customer service, hospitality and/or professional audio, video and lighting systems. Event staff must be incredibly trustworthy and professional at all times. Training comes with the work, depending on experience.

Essential Job Functions
- Support event production for the department for both BCA events and community rentals in the BCA Center, BCA Studios, Contois Auditorium, City Hall Park, and occasionally additional off-site locations
- Work indoors and outdoors, handle physical tasks, and conduct work with professionalism and compassion for everyone encountered.
- Contribute to effective relationships with third-party vendors, organizations, cultural and community organizations, and City personnel.
- Ability to work on evenings and weekends.
- Complete the set-up of furniture, audio equipment including various digital sound consoles, and video equipment including professional video projection equipment and advanced portable electrical distribution systems for events, meetings, films, concerts, festivals and other special events.
- Ability to actively support City’s diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development.
- Entry level position for a person 18 years or older. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Preference for an associate's degree in related field or equivalent of at least 2 years of event experience.
- Demonstrated skill in creative problem solving, can-do attitude, and staying calm under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Computer proficiency, especially in Google for Work (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail) and Microsoft (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather, kneel or stand for periods of time, and be able to lift 50 pounds, which are all needed for on-site events.
