Job Summary
The Laser Operator is responsible for completing all laser-cutting tasks from the time projects are released by Project Management through final part processing. This role ensures parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and according to specifications.
- Set up and operate a Fiber Laser to produce parts that meet production requirements.
- Identify and stage required materials; load materials into machines as needed.
- Make necessary program edits to ensure proper cutting and accuracy.
- Prep finished parts for shipment when time allows.
- Replace consumables and make machine adjustments as required.
- Perform material handling tasks, including loading materials for production runs.
- Measure completed parts to ensure they meet specifications and tolerances.
- Read and interpret work orders, including material requirements, cutting locations, and dimensional tolerances.
- Maintain a clean and organized shop area, including tools and equipment.
- 1–3 years of CNC laser experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment.
- Ability to learn laser programming and automated offloading equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret flat print drawings (preferred).
- Forklift operation experience.
- Able to work independently and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision once trained.
- 1–3 years of CNC laser operation.
- Experience with parts nesting software and laser control programming.
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
- Training schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Post-training schedule: Monday–Thursday, 2:30 PM to 1:00 AM
