Tabet Manufacturing Co. has an immediate opening for a Welding Lead. This role combines hands-on welding expertise with leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate is a strong multitasker with excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and proven experience supervising welding teams in a production environment.
The Welding Lead oversees welding operations, ensures adherence to certified procedures, supports welder training, and maintains high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This position also performs hands-on TIG/MIG welding, staging materials, prepping components, and ensuring proper setup of equipment.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development
- Assign daily work and manage schedules for welders.
- Train, mentor, and certify welders to company procedures.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching or corrective action when needed.
- Promote cross-training and career development for welders.
- Perform TIG and MIG welding on various metals in thicknesses ranging from 16ga to 1-1/2".
- Fit, weld, and inspect components for accuracy and quality.
- Stage and set up welding materials and equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job travelers.
- Prepare parts by grinding, drilling, tapping, cutting, or other required processes.
- Change welding wire, consumables, and gas cylinders as needed.
- Ensure robotic and cobot welders are used daily and efficiently.
- Monitor weld quality, machine performance, and consumable usage.
- Ensure all welded products meet production schedules and quality standards.
- Set daily production goals and track progress throughout the shift.
- Adjust workflow to meet targets and support production needs.
- Work with engineering and quality to solve weld-related issues.
- Ensure weld certifications remain current and documentation is maintained.
- Maintain accurate and complete job travelers and sign-offs.
- Lead initiatives to reduce cycle times and improve weld quality.
- Support engineering with design-for-weld improvements.
- Implement Lean, 6S, and safety improvements within the welding department.
- Track and report welding metrics (throughput, rework, certification compliance).
- Enforce OSHA and company safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, hazard-free welding environment.
- Follow all PPE and equipment safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of production, certifications, and inspections.
- Provide updates to the Manufacturing Manager regarding staffing, performance, and improvements.
- High school diploma or GED required (technical training or trade school preferred).
- 5+ years of welding experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role.- Certified to multiple weld procedures.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes, symbols, and inspection requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and leadership skills.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must pass a background check.

- Electric and pneumatic hand grinders
- Tape measures, calipers, and standard hand tools
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, or stoop for prolonged periods.
- Full range of vision including color differentiation.
- Repetitive use of hands, arms, and fingers.
