Environmental Systems Service, Ltd. (ESS) is an environmental services firm located in Culpeper, Virginia. ESS has been a leader in water & wastewater treatment operations and maintenance for 54 years. The company also maintains a state-certified environmental laboratory that supports our Environmental Services Division and performs water, wastewater, and soil testing for outside clients.

We are currently seeking a full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee (certification is a definite plus) for the Alleghany County area of Virginia. No prior experience is required; a mechanical or maintenance aptitude is a plus. The position requires the ability to work independently, and duties include, but are not limited to: The monitoring and adjustment of process control equipment; on-site testing to determine chemical dosage; sample collection for off-site testing; and maintaining records of all monitoring information, including a daily logbook, maintenance records, and instrument calibration records. Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.

You will have the opportunity to obtain a wastewater operator’s license. ESS provides ongoing training opportunities for employees and encourages advancement to higher levels of water and/or wastewater licensure. ESS provides all fees for licensure as part of your employment package. Opportunity for advancement in pay as licenses are obtained.

An excellent driving record is required, and a current DMV record must be provided as part of the application process. Salary is based on several factors, including experience, and is evaluated on an individual basis.
