Join a team dedicated to supporting critical infrastructure as a Critical Systems Technician II, Battery in Ashburn, VA. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the reliability and performance of battery systems that support Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems for essential facilities. This position offers hands-on experience with battery installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting, while working alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative environment.
- Assist with battery replacements and new installations for UPS systems.
- Support preventative and scheduled maintenance of battery systems with minimal disruption to customers.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site during all phases of work.
- Follow operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
- Interact professionally with internal teams and external customers.
- Utilize hand tools and general maintenance equipment as required.
- Assist with tasks in other service divisions, such as Switch Gear, Operations, and HVAC, as needed.
- Work from schematic diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete assignments.
- Learn and support the disconnection and connection of sealed batteries in cabinets and open racks.
- Gain experience in building and installing flooded cell battery racks and spill containment systems.
- Enter pre-installation test readings and collect data from maintenance services using a laptop computer.
- Travel approximately 30% or more to customer sites as required.
- Adhere strictly to facility work rules and safety procedures at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.
- Regular and reliable attendance is essential.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of, or willingness to learn, AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
- Ability to use digital multimeters, amp clamps, and battery testing equipment (training provided).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Completion of OSHA 10-hour certification and NFPA-70E Safety Training (or willingness to obtain).
- Understanding of proper use of isolation devices, arc-flash suits, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to work from diagrams and follow verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to travel as required (approximately 30% or more).
