Summary
Summit Ridge Energy (“SRE”) is seeking a Civil Engineer to join us and develop our civil and general engineering capabilities in the solar industry. The candidate will become proficient in determining site suitability and feasibility for solar photovoltaic projects by obtaining and comprehending site specific factors such as topography, ecology/wetlands, soils, geology, property rights, and other environmental factors for each project site. Additionally, the candidate will work alongside electrical, structural and design engineers to round out their skill set and better understand the entire design. Starter training, instruction manuals, and staff guidance will be provided.

Role And Responsibilities
- Assist with the review of site characteristics to determine suitability and feasibility of a solar and energy storage facility including assessing the topography, slopes, land cover/condition, and other geographic constraints;
- Prepare civil engineering drawing sets using the Autodesk AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D software;
- Use software simulations to estimate solar energy generation potential;
- Use software simulations to model stormwater runoff to comply with local and state stormwater management requirements;
- Write flood reports to document outcomes from review for dissemination;
- Perform Hydraulic/Hydrologic assessments of catchment areas to determine base flood elevations and design parameters for culverts using HECRAS and Civil 3D software;
- Design culverts/stream crossings, stormwater management facilities, erosion and sediment control measures, proposed grading, earthwork takeoffs, and site layout for solar and energy storage projects;
- Design conceptual as well as detailed site plans and single line diagrams;
- Assist the Civil SME with the training of the larger non civil engineering team.
- 4-year B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited institution.
- Engineering in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain one preferred;
- General understanding of the land development process;
- One to three years of relevant work experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Functional knowledge of Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, and Excel;
- Strong problem solving and creative skills with an ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
- Ability to embrace innovation and change, and belief that there is always room for improvement.
