The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) – Mining West is responsible for developing and executing sales strategies within the western US, leading a team of sales representatives, managing customer accounts, and ensuring sales targets are met by overseeing all sales activities within their territory, including hiring, training, coaching, and motivating the sales team to maximize revenue generation for the Company.
- Create and implement strategic sales plans tailored to the specific region, including market analysis, competitor assessment, and sales forecasting. Adapt sales strategies accordingly.
- Hire, train, and mentor sales representatives to achieve individual and team sales goals.
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients, identifying new business opportunities and manage existing accounts as necessary to ensure coverage for the region.
- Develop new business opportunities for the team through cold calls, networking, trade shows, etc.
- Establish and track sales metrics, KPIs, analyze data, and identify areas for improvement to ensure sales targets are consistently met.
- Maintain an opportunity pipeline and keep management informed through regular activity reports and communications.
- Oversee the regional sales budget, allocating resources effectively to achieve the company sales goals.
- Stay informed and communicate market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs.
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to sales team members to improve their selling skills and techniques.
- Work closely with marketing and operational teams to develop and execute integrated marketing or product improvement initiatives that support sales growth and continued improvement in fulfilling customer requirements and exceeding expectations.
- Enhance professional growth and development of self and the team through participation in educational programs, current literature, meetings, trainings, workshops, etc.
- Establish a culture of safety, performance, accountability, ownership, and sales & service excellence. Ensure a working environment of teamwork and collaboration.
- Perform related duties as assigned by VP of Sales.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Represent the Company values at all times.
- BA or BS degree, MBA preferred.
- Five years proven track record in sales management in the western mining market.
- Excellent organizational skills, with emphasis on priorities and goal setting.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications, CRM, and ERP software.
- Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Technical skills required to understand and propose products or solutions by focusing on client requirements.
- Ability to communicate information, whether technical or non-technical to internal stakeholders and customers, in a clear and concise manner.
- Perform work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to lead and work as part of a team.
- Ability to travel 50% or more
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job duties consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Frequent walking and/or standing is required.
- Frequent bending, pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying of parts.
- Ability to work safely and adhere to the Swanson Safety System in daily job duties.
