Job Summary
We are seeking a Part Time Shop and Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This role involves performing maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on a variety of heavy construction equipment, small engine equipment, and vehicles. Duties can also include shop house keeping and upkeep of trailers. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, hands-on experience with automotive and heavy equipment repair, and the ability to work independently in a shop environment. This position offers flexible hours and an opportunity to develop technical skills across multiple equipment types.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on construction equipment and automotive vehicles including transmissions, hydraulics, suspension, and air brake systems, etc.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, OEM manuals, and diagnostic tools
- Conduct welding, fabrication, and assembly work as needed for equipment repair or customization
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment such as forklifts, excavators, cranes, and compressors.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems including automotive diagnostics
- Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed on various machinery
- Assist with tire service, brake repair, hydraulic systems, and alignment procedures
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all maintenance activities and maintain a clean work environment
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment, construction equipment, or automotive repair
- Strong mechanical knowledge of transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diesel engines
- Familiarity with schematics, OEM manuals, and diagnostic procedures
- Ability to operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and dump trucks.
- Skilled in welding, fabrication, assembly, and use of hand tools and power tools
- Experience with vehicle maintenance including tire service and brake repair
- Knowledge of heavy lifting techniques is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work part-time hours with flexibility for scheduled shifts or on-call duties
