American Alloy Steel, Inc is currently searching for a skilled operator to fill the open position of an Messer Operator in our Ogden, Utah location!
The Messer Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Messer drilling/milling machine. The Messer Operator will be used to manufacture precision parts and components according to specifications. The operator ensures quality, efficiency, and adherence to safety standards in the production process. Kinetic and/or Messer experience is required.
- Operate Messer machines to perform tasks such as drilling, cutting, and shaping materials.
- Load raw materials onto the machine and tooling into the machine, ensuring proper alignment and positioning.
- Start and monitor the machining process, making necessary adjustments to maintain quality.
- Overhead crane operation as needed
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Set up Messer milling machines, including selecting and installing appropriate tools and fixtures.
- Input and modify programs as needed to achieve desired results.
- Inspect and measure finished products using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools to ensure they meet specifications.
- Perform first article inspections and complete quality control documentation.
- Identify and correct any defects or deviations in products.
- Conduct routine maintenance on Messer machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical and programming issues.
- Follow company safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Adhere to manufacturing standards and ISO requirements.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Work closely with supervisors and quality control staff to optimize production processes.
- Maintain effective communication with team members to ensure smooth operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in Messer machining or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience operating Messer milling machines; 6-axis laser preferably.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of Kinetic and/or Messer programming (G-code/M-code).
- Familiarity with measurement tools and quality inspection methods.
- Understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
