Position Summary
The Water Reclamation Assistant Manager- Collections is integral to managing field operations within the Water Reclamation division. Reporting directly to the Water Reclamation Manager, this position ensures the efficient, safe and compliant operation of wastewater collection processes. The Assistant Manager supervises daily activities, provides technical oversight and implements strategic improvements to enhance operational efficiency. This role requires in-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and the ability to manage both routine operations and emergency responses.
Essential Functions:
•Supervision and Leadership: Direct the daily operations of Water Reclamation field crews, assigning tasks, monitoring progress and ensuring efficient completion of work. Provide the leadership and guidance to resolve complex technical and operational issues.
•Operational Management: Coordinate the maintenance of field operations equipment and vehicles to ensure all are in optimal working condition. Monitor processes, and adjust as necessary, to maintain compliance with environmental regulations.
•Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with TCEQ, and any other relevant governing bodies, by conducting regular inspections, maintaining accurate records and preparing necessary reports. Oversee the collection and testing of samples, ensuring proper documentation and submission of compliance reports.
•Staff Training and Development: Direct staff training programs to enhance technical knowledge and ensure compliance with TCEQ licensure regulations and OSHA safety standards. Evaluate employee performance, suggest disciplinary actions and recommend procedures to maintain a high performing team.
•Related Duties: Submit Sanitary Sewer Overflow(SSO) reports as needed, create spreadsheets and documents and present findings as needed.
Education:
•Required: A High School diploma, or equivalent, is required.
•Preferred: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental Science or a related field.
Experience:
•Required: Minimum of five years of experience in wastewater treatment or collections operations, including at least three years in a supervisory role.
•Preferred: Over ten years of experience in wastewater treatment or collections operations.
Training and Certificates
•Required: Class III Wastewater Collection OR Wastewater Treatment Class B license.
•Preferred: Class A Wastewater license, Class A CDL, NASSCO Certification.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
•Outdoor and Indoor Work: Work is performed both outdoors in the collections system and indoors in an office setting. Requires adaptability to all environmental conditions.
•Safety Gear: Must consistently wear protective gear such as safety shoes, gloves and hard hats.
•Exposure to Hazardous Conditions: Regular exposure to hazardous conditions is a part of the job. This includes working near heavy machinery, potentially harmful chemicals, and in environments where safety protocols must be strictly followed to prevent accidents and injuries.
•Physical Demands: The role involves significant physical activity, such as walking, standing, climbing, and bending, often on uneven terrain.
•Flexible Hours: Must be able to work outside of regular office hours to meet regulatory deadlines or respond to emergencies. This includes working early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Conditions Of Employment:
•Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License before employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license within 30 days of hire per state law).
•Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check.
