Position Summary:
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations to ensure efficient workflow, accurate inventory handling, and a safe working environment. This role manages warehouse associates, coordinates inbound and outbound logistics, enforces company policies, and supports continuous improvement in productivity, safety, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities:
•Manage day-to-day operations, coordinate labor assignments, ensure on-time receiving/shipping
•Conduct daily team huddles, safety briefings, and performance check-ins
•Ensure compliance with company policies and OSHA safety standards
•Train, coach, and evaluate team members on operational procedures and safe work practices
•Monitor and report productivity, attendance, and performance metrics
•Identify and resolve operational issues, escalate when necessary
•Oversee accurate and timely documentation of inventory movements and transactions
•Confirm proper tagging, staging, and documentation of products
•Coordinate with Inventory Analyst and Shipping Clerk
•Assign operators to cranes based on load type and magnet use
•Ensure proper rigging practices and safe lifting zones are followed
•Prioritize railcar unloading and truck loading sequences
•Communicate with rail logistics and dispatch for incoming/outbound traffic
•Collaborate with other departments (logistics, purchasing, customer service) to support order fulfillment and problem resolution
•Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in the warehouse at all times
•Submit daily production and incident logs
•Report rail delays, equipment failures, and near-misses
Rail-Specific Safety Oversight:
•Establish “blue flag” procedures (lockout/tagout equivalent for railcars)
•Enforce no-entry zones during car movement or switching
•Railcar Unloading Procedures:
•Ensure chocks are placed before unloading
•Require brake checks and communication with the rail provider
•Confirm grounding of magnetic cranes to avoid electric shock hazards
•Walkway & Fall Protection:
•Verify use of fall protection when walking on/over cars
•Maintain clear walkways and lighting near rail spurs
•Communication Protocols:
•Coordinate with yard switch crews and locomotive operators
•Use spotters when railcars are being moved
•Safety Coordinator verifies car condition before opening/entering
•Flag and report any damage or unsafe access points
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred
•2–4 years of warehouse or logistics experience, including at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role
•Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic computer skills (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
•Forklift certification preferred or willingness to obtain
•Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
•Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced, physically active environment
•Bilingual (e.g., English/Spanish) a plus
Working Conditions:
•Warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels
•May require standing, walking, and lifting (up to 50 lbs) for extended periods
•Occasional overtime, weekends, or evening shifts may be required
