Safety First Group is looking to add an experienced

PHA Facilitator

to support

refining-heavy

PHA work across the Gulf Coast. This starts as a

trial engagement

with the intent to work the right person into our

2026 schedule

.

What you’ll be doing

- Lead and facilitate

Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs)

for refinery and petrochemical operations (new studies + revalidations)

- Facilitate multiple methodologies as appropriate:

HAZOP, What-If / What-If Checklist, Checklist, HAZID, FMEA

(

LOPA

is a strong plus)

- Run effective sessions with cross-functional teams (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, I&E, Process Safety, etc.)

- Keep sessions productive, drive quality discussion, and ensure hazards/safeguards/recommendations are captured clearly

- Deliver clean documentation and action-item tracking clients can execute

Minimum requirements

- 10+ years

in the safety/process safety field with significant

PHA execution

- 5+ years

direct experience in

refining and/or petrochemical

environments (

refining-heavy preferred

)

- Proven facilitation presence — able to lead a room, manage disagreement professionally, and maintain momentum

- Strong organization and writing skills (recommendations, action items, follow-up)

Preferred / nice-to-have

- Experience with

PHA software

(PHA-Pro, PHAWorks, Stature, or similar)

- Comfortable

self-scribing

when needed or working effectively with a dedicated scribe

- Strong understanding of

PSM/RMP

expectations and real-world safeguard quality

Engagement

- Project-based / contract-style

to start (trial fit)
