J MAR’s client, a well-established and expanding national HVAC components distributor, is seeking an
Accounting Consultant with Manager-level experienceto support the Corporate Controller, Accounting Manager, and Financial Reporting Manager during an ERP implementation. This contract role runs through April 2027.
- Assist with oversight of daily general ledger (GL) operations by ensuring accuracy and maintaining proper documentation of assigned procedures.
- Support the month-end GL close process.
- Assist with the annual audit by preparing schedules and providing required substantiation and documentation.
- Support the Accounts Receivable process by reviewing computerized semi-monthly statements for accuracy and posting payments.
- Monitor distributor compliance with company credit policies by tracking account status, enforcing commitments made by distributor branches, approving charges to delinquent accounts, and preparing the Delinquent Aging Report.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities, including comparative variance analysis.
- Support the Corporate Controller to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance & Accounting Department.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to the ERP Team to enhance the effective use of team and technology resources.
- Carry out assigned leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Provide support to other accounting team members and perform additional accounting functions as assigned.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with counterparts across the organization through open and consistent communication.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
- Progressive accounting experience, including prior management of a small team.
- Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present complex accounting issues.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing needs.
- Experience driving process and system improvements in dynamic settings.
- Some travel to the company’s Portland, Oregon office is required.
- Must be willing to work a full-time contract assignment (not a direct hire role).
