Job Summary
As a Scale & Operations Coordinator, you’ll serve as a key point of contact for customers entering and exiting the yard. You’ll weigh inbound and outbound materials, maintain accurate records, facilitate material grading and upgrades, handle cash transactions, and assist with reporting. You’ll also work closely with multiple departments and play an essential role in ensuring operational efficiency, excellent customer experience, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities•Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and assisting throughout the transaction process.
•Accurately weigh and record inbound/outbound loads using computer software and scale systems.
•Input and manage customer data to ensure compliance with state and DPS regulations.
•Coordinate with the non-ferrous warehouse on grading, pricing, and inventory upgrades/downgrades.
•Support cash office duties, including handling transactions, reconciling drawers, and generating reports.
•Collaborate with operations, shipping, and buying staff to confirm pricing and load details.
•Assist in traffic management and guide customers safely through the yard.
•De-escalate customer issues with professionalism and communicate effectively across departments.
•Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area including the scale house, warehouse access points, and cash office.
•Identify and report operational improvements and support process efficiency.
Working Conditions
•Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, rain, and cold.
•Must be comfortable standing and walking for extended periods in an active industrial environment.
•Requires physical stamina, safety awareness, and a team-oriented mindset.
Qualifications
•Minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service, cashiering, or industrial environments preferred.
•Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
•Detail-oriented with the ability to manage high-volume tasks accurately.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn industry-specific software (e.g., GreenSpark).
•Previous experience with scale systems, material grading, or non-ferrous recycling is a plus.
•Comfortable working both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
•BILINGUAL is a + (ENGLISH/SPANISH)
Schedule & Travel
•Full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX.
•Occasional travel to satellite locations may be required.
•Required to work every other Saturday, with potential to cover additional Saturdays as needed.
