Your Impact in This Role
A
Quality Testing Technicianis an individual responsible for testing the quality of outbound materials and communicate findings relative to material specifications
:- Assist in utilizing the SMI Quality system at SMI facility.
- Lead in ensuring that product and services meet or exceed customer specifications.
- Perform plant quality checks per SMI’s Quality Procedures.
- Update and maintain quality records on a computer.
- Perform and document in-process cullet sampling in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Conduct and document incoming and outgoing load inspections.
- Work with the maintenance personnel to ensure equipment operates efficiently to optimize product quality.
- Wear appropriate site specific personal protective equipment (PPE), as required.
- Understand and adhere to all company operating procedures and company safety policies.
- Cross-trained in other plant positions, as needed.
- Any other related duties, as assigned by their supervisor.
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing, especially in Quality Control, Operations, and glass processing.
- Familiarity with quality improvement processes, testing, auditing, and inspection equipment.
- Ability to read and follow procedures and test methods.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Independent work ethic with minimal supervision.
- Leadership and organizational abilities.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Outlook); data entry proficiency.
- Comfortable using calculators, lab scales, and interpreting numerical data.
