Role Description
The
Project Well Engineer (PWE)
will take ownership of delivering well design, technical requirements and operational plans to accomplish both EDR’s and customers’ technical and financial goals. The Project Well Engineer drives close engagement with Operations, HSEQ, Finance, Commercial and Sales, Engineering and other departments within EDR.
The PWE will be accountable for functional, business, and company-wide objectives. The PWE will be involved in the planning and execution of EDR’s Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) services in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) and other areas as required.
Responsibilities
•Prepare well designs, well plans, operational procedures, risk assessments and contingency plans, including well engineering, hydraulic simulations to plan Constant Bottom Hole Pressure (CBHP).
•Ensure all activities are in accordance with EDR’s HSEQ policies and procedures and drive HSEQ culture by example, actively coordinating and monitoring EDR’s service for best quality and efficiencies.
•Collaborate with internal and external parties, developing required programs and procedures to continuously improve operational procedures for EDR.
•Communicate effectively with well site/project stakeholders, making recommendations to execute flawless service delivery and operational excellence.
•Monitor daily progress of project(s), operational P&L, maintaining project financials including budget, forecast reconciliation with accounting team, and perform Cost Benefit Analysis.
•Prepare and deliver customer presentations, supporting business development and sales opportunities.
•Follow up with customer(s) daily, including attending morning meetings. Build trust with customer(s) by providing solutions to improve their specific wells rather than generic solutions.
•Attend other customer meetings including pre-job meetings, planning sessions, risk reviews, DWOPs, After Actions Reviews, Lessons Learned Sessions.
•Provide customer with the necessary technical advice throughout the planning and operational phases of the various well sections and write sectional recommendations for ongoing work.
•Work closely with customer(s) to plan use of EDR services on upcoming and planned wells.
•Provide engineering recommendations and advice to customer, third party and internally.
•Maintain good relationship with drilling contractor(s).
•Prepare, participate, and lead peer reviews, peer assist and other quality assurance related activities to the project and ensure extracted proof of benefits from EDR operations, writing case history studies.
•Assist in developing training material for offshore operations and personnel, drilling contractor and customers.
•Be actively involved in follow-up and feedback on equipment and operational issues.
•Document value-added by EDR services in drilling EOWR and other written material.
•Prepare, review, and deliver all technical reports related to the project including end of section and end of well reports, after-action reviews, lessons learned summary, etc.
•Provide necessary support and advice to offshore personnel.
•Evaluate and implement best practices and technological advancements to EC-Drill operations.
•Provide inhouse technical assistance with regards to operational considerations.
•Ensure engineering and operational achievements and challenges are captured through case histories, lessons learned or papers and shared with the global team.
Qualifications
•BSc. Degree in Petroleum Engineering, preferred plus relevant experience
•Drilling/well engineering background; MPD experience preferred
•Offshore experience, Deepwater experience preferred
•Knowledge of operations from floating drilling rigs
•Understanding and ability to run well hydraulics programs as well as ability to operate and learn common engineering software packages, as needed
•Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
•High degree of technical knowledge related to MPD equipment and/or techniques
•Well Control knowledge, (either IADC or IWCF Level 4 Supervisory certification) or competent to gain certification
•Excellent interpersonal skills to work well with colleagues across all businesses/cultures, achieve goals through effective influencing, and establish credibility with senior managers
