What We Are Looking For
GVEC is looking to hire you for the position of Line Design Technician I to deliver the unexpected with a willingness to continuously develop yourself, your department and our organization. As a Line Design Technician I, you will be responsible for completing detailed field notes/staking sheets, performing complex computations, maintaining line construction information and inventory, entering line design data using computers, GIS and GPS technologies, documenting proper placement of power/fiber lines and identifying and resolving issues.
Your Pay
The minimum starting pay for this role is $24.00/hr plus bonuses that are tied to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually. Pay will be determined by skills, qualifications and experience.
How You’ll Help
•Work with GVEC members to ensure proper placement, removal or upgrade of electric/fiber facilities and resolve facility issues as needed
•Complete detailed field notes/staking sheets to record all units and information necessary for construction and material inventory
•Enter field survey information into GVEC computer systems and GIS software
•Complete deed/title research for accurate current landowner information
•Acquire and notarize easements from property owners and secure necessary permits as needed
•Ability to understand and apply line extension policy and GVEC Tariff
•Understanding of service order/work order processes and workflow
•Prepare and communicate construction cost estimates as needed
•Complete locates with Texas811 to ensure utilities are notified of proposed work
•Respond to routine member inquiries concerning job status in a professional and courteous manner
•Maintain a clean and safe work area at office, field sites and vehicle
•Keep all tools and equipment in proper working order
Experience/Skills You’ll Need
•Ability to obtain and maintain a notary certification
•Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
•Ability to work in extreme temperatures and environments
•Must be able to work alone and walk (multiple miles) daily
•Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed or during Emergency Operations
•Occasional travel or overnight stays throughout the U.S. for conferences, trainings or seminars as required
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and confidently
•Excellent problem-solving skills - able to effectively troubleshoot minor issues independently
•Demonstrated ability to effectively manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
•Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic. Able to work independently with an impeccable sense of integrity
•Team player with the resolve to provide and take constructive criticism that helps evolve the team
Preferred Experience/Skills
•Knowledge of electric distribution design and construction practices and standards
•Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code rules and regulations
•Knowledge of property title research and Right-of-Way acquisition.
