This position is responsible for independently, under limited supervision, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems used in oilfield production facilities. This position carries significant responsibility for knowledge of, adherence to, and execution of proper safety practices to promote and ensure an incident and injury-free workplace for their team and others who may be on the property.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for being the ambassadors for employee safety and environmental protection.
- Responsible for understanding the variables that can impact production volumes, with knowledge of industry standards, while also bringing new and innovative ideas to the table.
- Responsible for daily project budget controls in every category and clearly and regularly communicating Lease Operating Expense spending data to their supervisor.
- Responsible for device testing for pressure, fluid levels, and shutdowns for facilities.
- Responsible for the coordination of field technicians, contractors, and vendor work.
- Responsible for installation, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment in oilfield facilities to NEC, API, and Company standards.
- Responsible for performing preventative maintenance on motors, pumps, compressors, PLCs, SCADA systems, and related field devices.
- Responsible for the diagnosis of electrical, control, and instrumentation issues in field equipment and facilities.
- Responsible for repairing and replacement of faulty wiring, sensors, transmitters, switches, and other control devices.
- Responsible for assisting with the commissioning of new facilities and equipment.
- Responsible for all required documentation, including work orders, inspection records, and calibration logs.
- Responsible for providing input on upgrades, modifications, and improvements to I&E systems.
- Responsible for ensuring all systems and work practices comply with OSHA, EPA, RRC, and company HSE policies.
- Responsible for working with automation and operations teams to resolve production downtime.
- Participate in audits, safety meetings, and training programs.
- Support operations, engineering, and automation teams with technical expertise.
- Responsible for coaching, mentoring, and training less experienced technicians.
- All other duties and tasks as assigned by the direct supervisor or manager.
The qualifications and skills listed below are representative of those required to complete the essential duties listed above.
Associate’s degree in electrical, instrumentation, or related field preferred.
5 years of I&E measurement and PLC programming experience in an oil and gas or industrial environment preferred.
Strong awareness of cause & effect analysis and evaluation of safety systems.
Experience with ROC, TotalFlow, ABB, and Siemens programming is a plus.
Strong knowledge of control systems (PLC/SCADA), motor controls, and electrical distribution.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, P&IDs, and loop drawings.
Knowledge of hazardous area classifications and explosion-proof equipment.
Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
H2S, First Aid/CPR, and other safety certifications preferred.
