Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and heavy equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring that all vehicles and machinery operate efficiently and safely.
- MUST KNOW HYDRAULICS!
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, including but not limited to engine diagnostics, transmission work, and brake repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair various types of heavy equipment such as excavators, FORKLIFTS, ETC.
- Utilize schematics to diagnose electrical issues and perform necessary repairs.
- Conduct inspections on vehicles and equipment to identify potential issues before they become serious problems.
- Operate forklifts and other heavy machinery safely while performing repairs or maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Collaborate with other mechanics and service technicians to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their vehicle or equipment needs.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in diesel engine repair, automotive diagnostics, and vehicle maintenance.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs.
- Familiarity with air brake systems, alignment procedures, hydraulics, suspension components, HVAC systems, shocks & struts, and tire service.
- Experience with fabrication techniques is a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects as required during repair tasks.
- Knowledge of automotive repair standards and practices; dealership experience is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to read schematics for electrical systems.
