Job Summary
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appeal, cleanliness, and safety of FELPS facility property and outdoor areas. This position requires knowledge of horticulture, the ability to operate groundskeeping equipment and physical stamina to work outdoors in all weather conditions. The groundskeeper plays a key role in ensuring the grounds are well maintained for employees, visitors, and customers.
- Lawn and Garden Maintenance: Perform regular lawn care tasks, including mowing, edging, trimming, and fertilizing. Plant, cultivate, and maintain flower beds, shrubs, and trees.
- Horticultural Care: Apply mulch, weed, and prune greenery to promote healthy growth and appearance. Mix and apply pesticides and herbicides safely and effectively to control weeds and pests.
· General Upkeep: Collect and dispose of trash, debris, and fallen leaves to keep the ground clean and safe. Clear sidewalks, parking lots, and walkways of snow, ice, or other obstructions during inclement weather.
- Irrigation Management: Install, maintain, and repair irrigation and sprinkler systems to ensure proper watering of lawns and plants.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate and perform routine maintenance on a variety of groundskeeping equipment, such as mowers, tractors, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
Facilities Maintenance: Perform minor repairs on outdoor fixtures and structures, such as fences, gates, benches, and patios, filter changes throughout building, power wash building and vehicles, pest control clean ice maker and indoor painting interior and exterior and other duties assigned.
- Inventory and Ordering: Monitor and maintain inventory of groundskeeping supplies and equipment, and place orders as needed.
· Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field is desirable.
· Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in various weather conditions, including standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
· Capable of lifting and moving heavy objects, often up to 100 pounds.
· Familiarity with landscaping techniques and the proper use of gardening tools and equipment.
· Knowledge of plants, gardening, and basic pest control methods.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
· Good verbal communication skills to interact with supervisors and colleagues
· Primarily works outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
· Work may involve exposure to noise, dust, pollen, and chemicals.
· A valid driver's license may be required, depending on the role. A pesticide applicator's license may also be required for roles involving chemical application
The employee will be required to work primarily in an outdoor setting. Physical requirements include, but are not limited to, standing, sitting, walking, lifting to 100 pounds. Post job offers physical, driving record, background check and drug screen required.
