TKE Engineering & Design, Inc. is a mid-sized consulting engineering firm that has proudly served the gas and pipeline industry for more than 30 years. Founded in Houston, Texas in 1992 by Terry Elliott, P.E., TKE provides comprehensive engineering and design services for projects across the continental United States. Our expertise spans a wide range of facilities and project needs, including compression, meter and regulation stations, pipelines, natural gas and crude oil facilities. In addition, we offer specialized support in AFE development, FERC applications, permitting, critical path scheduling, startup and commissioning, construction management, and material requisition.
TKE is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical & Instrumentation Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will be proficient in all aspects of electrical and instrumentation (E&I) design, as well as the specification and procurement of equipment required for oil and gas facilities. This role works closely with engineers, designers, clients, contractors, and vendors to develop effective solutions, while also consulting with senior electrical engineers and designers for guidance and mentorship.
- Design/Check low- and medium-voltage systems, one-line diagrams, motor schematics, plans/elevations, installation details, drawing lists, cable sizing, and other electrical calculations.
- Develop/Check conduit and cable layouts, grounding systems, and hazardous-area compliant designs.
- Prepare and review detailed drawings, including wiring diagrams, motor schematics, conduit/cable routing, conduit/cable schedules, and detail drawings.
- Support specification, selection, and procurement of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Technical Focus Areas (including but not limited to):
- Medium- and low-voltage switchgear and motor control centers
- PLC-based control and automation systems
- Instrumentation (pressure transmitters, flow elements, control valves, etc.)
- Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS)
- Facility operations narratives and safety reviews (HAZOP, Cause & Effect)
- Electrical system drawings and detail designs
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in the midstream oil & gas industry- Experience with meter sites and compressor stations required
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexible Fridays: Half-day Fridays available upon completion of 40 hours
