Responsibilities for the position of Director of Geoscience - Development at Talos Energy are presented below.
- Leads and manages a team of Geoscientists in the Development organization.
- Influences decisions, best practices, and technologies.
- Provides technical expertise and guidance for both geology and geophysics workflows, pulling in support from Geophysics, Petrophysics, and other SMEs as needed.
- Guides a wide range of projects from detailed field development studies, to characterizing un-drilled exploitation opportunities near infrastructure, to detailed static modeling work.
- Works closely with the Director of Reservoir Engineering to prioritize projects and direct the appropriate level of subsurface technical work within the Development organization.
- Prepares the technical team for project approval, setting expectations for technical rigor, project deliverables, and final presentation materials.
- Interacts with executive leadership and communicates information and expectations to the technical team.
- Communicates technical recommendations clearly to stakeholders including management, partners, and regulatory agencies through reports and presentations.
- Charged with career development planning, performance reviews, and goal setting within the team of Geoscientists.
- Minimum of 15 years of geoscience experience in offshore or conventional basins.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics or related field required
- Masters degree in Geology, Geophysics or related field strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing technical staff and complex technical projects
- Proven oil finder with experience in the Gulf of America
- Expertise in geology and geophysics workflows including subsurface uncertainty characterization and static modeling
- Fluent in subsurface risk assessment including Rose and Associates probabilistic tools
- Expertise in seismic interpretation, AVO analysis, and modern geophysical imaging workflows
- Experience with secondary recovery and 4D seismic analysis
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to influence decisions at the executive level
- Excellent organizational skills with experience prioritizing a diverse and heavy workload
- Project management skills to guide, direct and empower a multidisciplinary team from idea creation through project final investment decision and execution.
- Experience building a culture of intellectual curiosity, pride of ownership, technical rigor, collaboration, and sense of urgency.
- A strong sense of integrity and the ability to deal with ethical situations effectively.

- Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
