Additionally, will be responsible for developing new design packages for the company’s standard products and conceptual drawings to support the sales department. The Control System Designer will collaborate with project managers, mechanical engineers and software developers to ensure the seamless integration of electrical components in our control systems.
- Create and maintain detailed electrical schematics and drawings packages to include, design changes, change orders and redlines to existing drawing packages, diagrams, panel layouts, wiring diagrams and wire label lists using AutoCAD electrical software.
- Specify dimensions, materials and procedures for new products, ensuring equipment scope is defined and documented before entering design stages.
- Produce complete drawings packages: electrical one-line diagrams, wiring/interconnect diagrams, loop diagrams, I/O lists, cable indexes, fabrication and general arrangement assembly drawings of control panels and terminal boxes, cable and instrument layouts.
- Maintain modular drawing packages ensuring a quick turn around on standard drawing assemblies.
- Perform electrical calculations and analysis to ensure the designs comply with industry standards, regulations and customer specifications.
- Conduct feasibility studies and participate in the selection of electrical components.
- Generate and communicate the bill of material lists to Procurement to ensure all components for the manufacturing process are ordered and meet production timetables.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any electrical design issues during the development and testing phases.
- Coordinate with the project managers, electrical and mechanical engineers, software developers and sales team, if applicable, to obtain technical details, optimize designs and resolve issues.
- Support the manufacturing and installation teams in implementing the electrical designs accurately.
