Job Summary: Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated cast, forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and building and bridge parts by performing the following duties. Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations where procedural information is unavailable.
- Selects equipment and plans layout assembly and welding.
- Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
- Tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
- Setting up equipment, rolls, and welds parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
- Assembles parts by bolting and riveting.
- Repairs products by dismantling, gouging, using a cutting torch, and rewelding to reassembling parts.
- Maintains assigned welding machine.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to pass 6g welding test
o Hot pass and fill up is FCAW
- Preferred mig welding

- Experience with pressure vessels
- Experience with engineering drawing and welding map
- Experience with bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding
- Experience setting up equipment and welds parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
- Experience with repairs to products by dismantling, gouging, using a cutting torch, and reweld to reassemble parts.

- Shifts may change from day to evening shifts.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/ or humid conditions. Moving mechanical parts, exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and extreme hot or cold. Noise level in the work environment varies depending on the job being performed.
