The Treatment System Operator/Safety Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities and enforcing safety policies and procedures. This role involves monitoring the treatment processes, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and performing routine maintenance on equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations. The Safety Technician oversees and enforces safety protocols, playing a critical role in promoting a safe working environment.
- Monitor and control wastewater treatment processes, including filtration, chemical addition, and pH monitoring
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance of equipment such as pumps, motors, and valves.
- Collect and analyze water samples to assess treatment efficiency and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and any incidents that occur.
- Respond to alarms and troubleshoot issues promptly to prevent service interruptions.
- Conduct routine cleaning of the system
- Disposed of hazardous waste per regulatory requirements
- Assist in the training of new hires on safety programs and procedures
- Conduct daily field inspection, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards
- Enforce safety and environmental policies and procedures across all departments to ensure a safe working environment
An Associate degree in Environmental and Occupational Safety, or a related field, is preferred. Previous experience in wastewater treatment or a related field is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes and systems.
- Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment for water quality analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures relating to manufacturing
- Ability to operate complex machinery and tools.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a hot or cold environment
- Be able to lift 50lbs.
