Overview
The Operations Manager is a senior leadership position responsible for directing, coordinating, and optimizing all Production and Materials activities within the plant. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations that meet customer, quality, cost, delivery, and inventory objectives.
The Operations Manager is accountable for operational execution in compliance with IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, and Teknia policies, while driving continuous improvement, cost control, and operational discipline across all shifts.
- Provide direct leadership to Production, Materials, and Logistics teams across all shifts.
- Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards aligned with plant objectives.
- Hire, train, develop, and evaluate team members in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Ensure job descriptions, training requirements, and competency matrices are current and maintained.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to review performance, priorities, safety, quality, and improvement initiatives.
- Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Address employee relations issues and escalate unresolved matters to the Plant Manager as required.
- Plan and execute production schedules to meet customer demand, delivery commitments, and inventory targets.
- Oversee material planning, inventory accuracy, WIP control, and finished goods management.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to resolve constraints and prevent disruptions.
- Review and analyze production metrics including efficiency, scrap, rework, downtime, and labor utilization.
- Ensure proper execution of inventory transactions and compliance with physical inventory requirements.
- Maintain operational readiness during launches, engineering changes, and customer demand fluctuations.
- Own operational cost performance including labor, scrap, rework, overtime, premium freight, and inventory.
- Use data-driven decision-making to improve OEE, throughput, and cost of conversion
- Develop and manage departmental budgets in alignment with plant financial targets.
- Identify and execute cost reduction and productivity improvement opportunities.
- Support accurate month-end close activities through disciplined operational execution.
- Proven experience in corporate finance or public accounting with a strong background in technical accounting practices such as accrual accounting and cost management.
- Extensive knowledge of IFRS, IAS standards, GAAP regulations, ASC 606 revenue recognition standards, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated expertise in risk management, fiscal management, budget development, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Strong understanding of governmental or non-profit accounting principles is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately and effectively communicate findings.
- Leadership experience in managing finance teams or cross-functional projects is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with advanced financial software systems for general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, cash flow analysis, and investment management.
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation processes.

- Ensure full compliance with IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, and internal procedures.
- Maintain audit readiness at all times for internal, customer, and third-party audits.
- Enforce Control of Nonconforming Product procedures and authorize product holds when required.
- Ensure employees understand and follow the Quality Policy and operational standards.
- Support APQP, PPAP, launch readiness, and change management activities.
- Participate directly in customer issue resolution, audits, and corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure corrective actions, root cause analysis, and preventive measures are effective and sustained.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OSHA/TOSHA, environmental, lockout/tagout).
- Promote a safe work environment and ensure hazards are identified and corrected promptly.
- Ensure housekeeping standards (6S) are maintained in production and material areas.
- Support emergency preparedness, drug policy enforcement, and overall plant safety systems.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across Production and Materials.
- Drive standard work, process discipline, and problem-solving culture.
- Ensure improvement projects are documented, tracked, and sustained.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operational Excellence resources to implement lean manufacturing principles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field preferred
- 10–15 years of progressive leadership experience in automotive manufacturing operations.
- Strong understanding of IATF 16949 and automotive manufacturing requirements.
- Proficient with ERP systems and production reporting tools.
- Proven leadership experience managing production and materials functions.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and operational data.
