The ME manager will be responsible to lead the manufacturing engineering department. This responsibility will include direct responsibility for manufacturing engineers or technicians leading short- and long-term projects to improve performance. This team of engineers could consist of fulltime or contract employees and may vary dependent on the number of active projects. The projects will include lean and six sigma, design for manufacturing, robotics and automation, advanced manufacturing techniques, new equipment, and facilities, etc. the role will also have dotted line responsibilities to production engineers supporting manufacturing departments. The ME manager reports to the Director of Operations and is a key leadership position on the manufacturing leadership team.
- Promote a “Zero Injury” Culture
- Drive safety improvement through engineered solutions to eliminate or reduce exposure to hazards
- Ensure standardized work, CTQs and process control plans are developed and maintained
- Define and document ME department standard processes to ensure engineering projects are successfully completed safely, on-time, within budget and without errors.
- Assist Director of Operations to develop and implement training plans to develop the skills of the team.
- Act as liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing to successfully launch NPD and ECR projects
- Develop and implement successful ECR implementation process in manufacturing (routings, standard costs, drawings, programming, etc.)
- Lead contract and/or full-time manufacturing engineers to successfully complete AOP projects to achieve company goals to increase EBITDA and Reduce NWC ratio.
- Develop and implement standard quoting, capital planning/request/tracking process for Mfg Eng
- Propose and lead capital projects to incorporate automation and technological improvements
- Measure Mfg Engineering dept performance to ensure ROI is achieved.
- Lead Lean, Six Sigma, and DFM activity in support of continuous improvement.
- Support the KPI process to accurately measure performance and drive daily improvement in SQDC
- Effectively identify problems, utilize root cause analysis and problem-solving tools to implement corrective measures
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Manufacturing, mechanical or Industrial engineering
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing support role
- Capital project management experience desired
- TPS/Lean and or Six Sigma certification is a plus
- Metal stamping, coatings, and/or welding experience is a plus
- High volume, discreet manufacturing experience is a plus
- Utilize effective verbal and written communication with all levels of the organization to build trust and encourage cooperation toward common goals
- Strong change management skills and demonstrated experience changing a culture to a Lean environment
- Demonstrate impact that translated to clear, bottom line performance results with step-function change
- Formal Lean training from an “academy” organization—either from consulting training (i.e., Shingijutsu, TBM) or via organizations with deep, well-established lean operation systems (Toyota, Danaher, Daikin, etc.)
- Experience utilizing MS Project or similar software to manage projects.

- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. - 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal fabrication. - 2+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Proven experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
