Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM) is a forward-thinking mining company redefining the industry. We are seeking a Senior Climate Change & Energy Specialist to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at our Saskatoon office with a requirement for irregular travel to our McIlvenna Bay Site.

Reporting to the Director, ESG, the Senior Climate Change and Energy Specialist will play a key role in supporting both Foran’s energy management and climate change initiatives and Foran’s sustainability and climate disclosure.
- Lead energy and greenhouse gas management and reduction initiatives including:
- Net zero transition planning development, monitoring/tracking and adjustment
- Energy management plan development, implementation, monitoring/tracking and adjustment
- Greenhouse gas inventories and associated work instructions and procedures for Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions across the company and for specific operations
- Energy inventories for direct and indirect energy consumption and associated work instructions and procedures across the company and for specific operations
- Third party (external) verification of Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas inventories for the company and for specific operations, where required, in a timely manner
- Collaborate with the operations department to promote awareness around energy usage and develop strategies to reduce power costs
- Staying current with technological advancements and be Foran’s subject matter expert related to energy solutions
- Lead property level physical climate risk and resilience assessments and coordinate the development and monitoring of appropriate mitigations to ensure climate resilience
- Lead the preparation of responses to specific sustainability and climate requests by external parties
- Support the preparation of Foran’s sustainability and climate change disclosure including by staying up to date on industry trends and voluntary and mandatory requirements, coordinating area owners and assisting in writing plain language materials for all areas, and leading the preparation of an annual report and website materials
- Manage and oversee data collection and documentation for sustainability and climate indicators that are aligned with external reporting standards
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental sciences, sustainability or a related discipline. A Master’s degree in a related discipline is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 7 years professional experience in climate change and energy management and decarbonization or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Must have some experience developing or managing indicators, data and processes/projects within an energy or greenhouse gas emission management system including developing low carbon pathways, calculating savings, implementing measures, managing projects and measurement and verification of savings.
- Must have experience completing external assurance of greenhouse gases and energy.
- Training in either or both ISO 50,001 or ISO 14064 as well as professional designation such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CVMP) is considered is an asset.
- Must be passionate about climate change and sustainability - knowledge of global sustainability reporting frameworks and requirements is an asset.
- Must have strong computer and word processing skills and experience with related software Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint
- Must have strong initiative, ability to learn quickly, organizational and time management abilities, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving skills and have demonstrated an ability to present complex information clearly and concisely
- Must be a great team player that enjoys working on a team and is able to collaborate and coordinate with a diverse range of internal and external people to find solutions in a dynamic and rapidly changing work environment
We offer a competitive starting salary range of $125,000 - $135,000/year based on experience and qualifications. Annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
