Hoist/Shaft Superintendent
Where will you work: Onsite – Onsite Colonsay, Saskatchewan
(The job location is at our mine site, situated 65 kilometers (approximately a 45-minute drive) from the city of Saskatoon)
About the role
The Hoist/Shaft Superintendent is accountable for the planning, coordination and direction of safe production, as well as mechanical and electrical maintenance, in the shafts, shaft facilities, hoists, and headframes to ensure the optimum efficiency of hoisting ore, personnel and materials conforming to schedule mine ore tonnage. This candidate is also responsible for the Colonsay Main Shop which includes planning, machining, welding and mobile equipment maintenance.
What will you do?
•Managing and supervising people (setting EDGE goals, performing field tours, FLHA reviews, ensuring employee safety, promoting company and department goals, achieving 25% of worked time as face time in the field).
•In conjunction with the shaft supervisor, schedules and coordinates the maintenance and the downtime required for hoisting and lowering of materials in a manner that will ensure uninterrupted production both to the underground operations and the surface mill. Plans and implements predictive and preventative maintenance schedules to ensure that the hoist and shaft assets are maintained to acceptable standards.
•Ensures the teams follow proper workflow procedures and adhere to Site, Company and Government EH&S standards.
•Evaluates and recommends the purchase of additional and replacement hoist & shaft equipment necessary to obtain the scheduled production. Plans and recommends shutdown work to ensure efficient operation of all shaft area equipment
•Implements and coordinates safe and efficient skip hoisting procedures to attain scheduled production tonnage at minimum cost. Implements standard operating methods and safety procedures in compliance with plant and government mine regulations.
What you’ll need:
•Engineering Degree preferred
•5+ years of Related Experience
•Must be willing and able to get a ticket to supervise underground as per mine regulations
•Will be responsible for direct reports
•Must be able to communicate effectively and demonstrate integrity
